The Wilmette Pony house league teams participate in the New Trier Pony Association league which is comprised of 7th and 8th grade players from the Evanston, Glenview, Glencoe, Northfield, Wilmette, Glenview and Kenilworth-Winnetka Baseball Associations.
For many of our player's this will be their 1st experience of playing against other local communities in a House league format. The league is structured into two Divisions, a Blue Division and a Green Division. Wilmette traditionally has 5 to 7 teams in the Blue Division and 8 to 10 teams in the Green Division.
House League: Each community places teams representing their association in the Blue and Green Division. The regular season is scheduled to begin mid-April (weather permitting) and end the first week of June. Blue Division games are played on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Green Division games are played on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Both Divisions play a 16 game regular season schedule.
Evaluation
Placement of players for each division are determined by an evaluation session and a subsequent draft by coaches for each Division. The Blue Division teams traditionally are filled with the stronger players from both 7th & 8th grade. The teams in the Green Division are filled with the balance of players from both 7th and 8th graders. To be considered for a team you must attend one of the evaluation sessions.
Please check date below for the respective Division in which you would like to be evaluated to be drafted. Evaluations for each Division are held at New Trier East H.S. in the gym facilities. Each player is evaluated on a series of stations; fielding, throwing, hitting and pitching. Each evaluation runs from about 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Please arrive at the gym at least 1/2 hour prior to start to have the player warm-up- gym shoes and mitts required- for hitting you can bring your own bat-Hitting is done in batting cage.
